Aug. 17th, 2004 11:08 amIt's been overnight and i can step back a bit from the weekend. It was pretty intense, but by the time we got home last night we were all still talking to one another, although Sarah went straight up to her room, and Eileen went straight home. She had to get ready for Den to get back. And Mother fell asleep in her chair.
Didn't do the water park. Did take the boat cruise. Hotel made a mistake on the reservations and we almost didn't get our meal. It worked out in the end. Came back to the hotel and had to wait for our room to be ready. So we went to the lounge for a margarita.
The hotel has great potential unfortunately it has not been fully developed. Room for 600 guests and only two elevators. Always a long wait at the elevator. Food was nothing to write home about, the wait staff was good and friendly, but the whole restaurant area seemed unorganized and/or just one step out of synch. There was not a complete set of silver on the table at either meal we ate there. Everyone had at least one fork, but no one had a spoon or a knife. We went to the breakfast buffet that was with the package deal, we got there, no eggs, no french toast, gravy but no biscuits, no meats. The doughnuts were frozen, no toast, the fruit was fresh and there were plenty of cold cereals, no juice, no milk. The management for the food service could use some help. It's a new place, but it's at least a year old. Some of those kinks should be ironed out by now. On the other hand, it could have been worse in the beginning, and now people think it is fine. Who knows? Am thinkin' will not be going back to that place. For the money, it was not the pleasant experience one would expect.
Went to the dog track to the casino. Sarah had a great time. Found her a machine she could pull the arm, and hand only one pay line. She came home 10$ richer than when she left. i think she was playing a penny machine. Mother was up 75$ on her penny machine but came away with 20$ and change. As usual, i donated to the cause.
Got to talk to Master for a bit last night, too. That made a depressed state even more depressing. But i went swimming this morning and i think i can face the world today. The sun is out, the sky is blue, and the rain isn't supposed to arrive till tonight. i can do rain at night.
