jdmkleinMaster had to work all day yesterday. He thought He might be off early but that didn't pan out. So,it was my responsibility to get everything ready for our guests.
i baked my first ever pecan pie and it didn't turn out too bad. The crust was good and the pie set up nicely. i slopped a bit of the pumpkin custard onto the crust of that pie, so the edges got a bit (ahem) dark, but the pie itself also turned out ok. i put the turkey in a bit late, i was out buying last minute stocking stuff and potatoes. i got an excellent 'do' on the stuffing, had several compliments on it.
Swept up about five extra dogs, i thought Max didn't shed in the other apartment, but now i know it just didn't show on the carpet. He got a new doggie mattress for his kennel, i think he likes it. He got a canine comfort sleep system, insulated with a polymer core. Wow! He didn't behave so pretty good last night so he got to spend most of the evening in the computer room. It's as i figured it would be, he got too hyped up at all the new faces and scents.
And, Master told me later, on his run last night he got the best of a pack of dogs. So Ol'Maxie baby was feelin' pretty proud of himself. But, considering that he was away from all the excitement but could still hear it, he behaved very well. And didn't even use the phone to call 1-900-dogy-sex.
Unfortunately the weather was too cool to make good use of the patio, all of the smokers got out there at least twice. And everyone was impressed as all get out. The first guests to arrive got to see the daily Dhow parade, they are beautiful boats. And by the end of dinner the ships out on the gulf were fully lit. i think i counted 73 of them, there could have been more parked closer together so i couldn't distinguish one from the other.
The last company left about 9:00 and Master put me on the bed and told me to unwind while He cleaned up. About 10:00 He came in and told me to go take a bath and go to bed. He was too wound up to sleep so He stayed up talking to the dog until about 1:30, then, the old silly, woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed at 5:30 this morning. Some people. But He did let me sleep until i wanted to get up.
We have an invite to a Kuwaiti New Year's Eve party. No Kuwaitis will be there but New Year's Day will be celebrated on January 4 this year, so it follows that New Year's Eve will be January 3. Don't ask, it's too involved to explain.
Boxing day is gorgeous. The gulf is the bluest of blue and calm. The sky is a paler blue with whispy clouds. And there are boats and dhows and ships by the gazillions out there. Life is good.
