jdmkleinWe are fighting the cable guy now. Master has His own dish, but it's still on the other apartment. When Master went up to move it, He discovered two others apartments had been connected to His dish. And the dish that is for this apartment is not for the same cable company. i don't want to believe these people who manage the apartment complex are stupid, but they sure are lazy or at the very least not trustworthy. We have been trying to get the cable hooked up since last week Thursday, but have had no luck. At first i thought it was just Master having bad luck all the time, but the longer i am here, the more i'm beginning to believe it is just a very poor service country. As Americans, used to a service oriented economy, it is really frustrating to have to deal with this.
Student conferences today. Some kids are going to have real problems with the research paper grade. They just don't have the critical thinking skills to make it work. Others are going to do just fine but there are a few that make me hope i never have to go to a hospital in this country. i don't want to go in with an ear ache and come out without a leg.
We won't know when eid starts for sure until Thursday. How weird is that? It all depends on the moon sighting committee and they are at odds about it. One says it will start on Thursday, the other says it will start on Friday. If it's Thursday, we will have Sunday off too, if it's Friday we will also get Monday off. Part of me, the lazy one, wants it to start on Friday so we have an extra long holiday. The teacher part of me hopes it starts on Thursday, cuz the students need all the contact time they can get.
i'm waiting patiently for my best friends' daughter to have her baby. Yesterday was J & E's anniversary. i was hoping the baby would come on that day. But true to baby form, it didn't. She is so excited. The only thing she ever wanted to be was a mother, and now the only thing she wants more than that is to be a grandmother. That's so odd i think. i don't particularly care to become a grandparent, but then i didn't really care if i was ever a parent either. i guess it has to be in your bones.
i over slept this morning, so dog didn't get his morning run. When we got home this afternoon, he was wilder than a March hair. We took him out to the desert earlier than usual because of that, and he ran just about twice the normal distance...and chased two trucks, a water wagon and three cars off his turf. Tuff dog, Max is.
We stopped and looked at a suburban this afternoon. It's old, and very modest, but just what we need for taking the dog to the desert. Having him in the emerson is ruining my car. The price is negotiable, but i don't know if Master is sold on it or not. Time will tell.
