jdmkleinWe went up and looked at the new apartment tonight. We may be able to start moving in next week. The cleaning woman will have to go up there and give it a good once over and there are a few things left to be done yet. But while on the one hand i'm really excited about the move, i wish it were over. Or, at the very least i could go to work one day from tower 2 first floor, apartment one, and come home that night to tower 4 sixth floor apartment one.
We are making plans to go out to the desert and watch the leonid meteor shower next Monday night well, early Tuesday morning. i've been reading on the Space.com site all about it. We won't get nearly as many as is predicted for the U.S., Chicago is expected to see over 3500 per 15 minute period. we will only be getting about 350. But that's ok. Douglas and i went up to the mountains one night in Taiwan to watch the shower. It was amazing. This is supposed to be a storm with fireballs and everything. Master was wondering if the shooting stars we saw last week when we went out were a part of the shower. i'm pretty sure they must have been.
i finally got the course descriptions and objectives for the new curriculum out to the teachers. And the Mission Statement, We will have another meeting next Wednesday to discuss the newest course revision. In the notice for the meeting, i made it clear that the meeting was scheduled for 90 minutes and that all teachers will be expected to clear their calendars for it. They asked for it dammit, they can good and well be there for it.
FoM is still the clusterfuck as usual. It took me six phone calls to find out that the person i needed to talk to was not going to be in the office again until Saturday. It is a simple request i was trying to make. Simply to see if the memo i'd sent a week ago had arrived. And to ask when they intended to comply with the request. And i got the run around. Intentional on at least one person's part. The nasty Okie.
My next project, after grading student papers will be to write the proposal for hiring requirement change. i have no idea how it will turn out. Nothing will probably happen in my lifetime at the uni, but my proposal may turn the tide. i have heard more about the alleged raise for us low lifes in academia. It may happen within the next 20 years. That's how long it took to get the last raise. Nice if it could come retroactive. Yea, Right! but it is at the MOE now, so at least it has been passed by the university.
There was an incident today that has left me in turmoil. Today i felt the precusor to physical violence and now i'm having serious doubts. i have been assured that nothing would ever happen to me, i would never be the target of that rage. It was, however, a frightening thing to have to deal with, to be in the same place with while it is happening.
i am nervous about what i am thinking.
