i think [livejournal.com profile] jemyl nailed it for me. It's not so much that i resent His coming home, as it is the fact the if He is back from up north for a short time, it only means that He will be leaving again. i love the coming home part, it's the leaving again part that i hate.

And then He lets slip little things like the bomb scare at the port entrance gate last week. When i ask about it, He says He didn't tell me at the time because He knew He couldn't type fast enough to prevent me from going hyper as He told the story. After the fact it is kind of cute, but during the fact, the port security treated it as a very real threat and acted accorgingly. And scared the pants off the 80 year old Iraqi man who had the bad fortune of running out of gas at the precise place.

And then in the telling of that story, He goes on to mention that about 6 months or so ago there were several similar events of abandoned vehicles by the port entrance. The wisdom has it that terrorists were scoping out the situation, to see what the port response would be. Every one up there is now wondering if this is the same type of thing.

Yea, sure, i don't want Him to go back when He leaves.

He will be home tonight. But not tomorrow, His b'day. And not until late on Thursday. Tomorrow may be the beginning of ramadan, or it may be Thursday. Either way, an early birthday dinner out is probably out of the question because the restaurants have to be closed until after iftr. On the other hand, breaking fast is a family time during ramadan, and restaruant are seldom busy until way late at night.

i have pork chops for dinner tonight. i got them out of the freezer and into the fridge. Just in case He doesn't make it back tonight. Am having a wee problem of what to have with. Fresh green beans, baby zucchini, fried cabbage, or something else. And there is a small dab of left over baked beans. Those should surely be on the menu. And maybe a small lettuce salad with tomatoes and cukes. Will have to remember to stop at the veg market.

Today i start teaching at the Nursing college. Good to have my foot in the front door in case i don't like the move to Jabriya. Will look into the financial aspects of that today. i will have 2 offices, the nursing college is segregated, because i teach both a male class and a female class. i've had all girls before, but never a full class of boys. It will be interesting. Instead of having Tuesday be my only go into the office if i want to day, it has become a mandatory teaching and office day. i'm going to try to save Sunday for a no office day, but that may be hanging by a slim thread too.
