The bags are packed, i'm ready to go
Sep. 13th, 2004 07:25 ami'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when i'll be back again.
i have 5 hrs before i leave. And as much as i dread coming back each year, i hate leaving in August.
There are two things i didn't get done: help Mother clean out the closet in my room and get someone to clean for Sarah and her. i have the number of a cleaning lady, just never got around to calling it. Will give it to Mother and have her take care of it. Then we can work out the fine details. About the boxes, it's my feeling that if they have been in the closet for two years and never gotten gone through, there is probably nothing of great importance in there, and the boxes should just be shipped off to St. Vincent DePaul. But that's me. They will probably be waiting for me next summer.
Sarah and i bought Pat and his wife a flag from the Healing Field yesterday. To commemorate the soldiers who have died in Iraq the veteran's group set up a field of over 1000 flags. Each flag had a yellow ribbon on it and a tag with the name of the soldier it is commemorating. We got them one for a boy in Arlington, Texas. He was 23, he died June 4 of this in a place i didn't recognize. Lani left Arlington to move to Waterloo. There is a connection.
i hope all the flags were taken. The money from the proceeds will be dispersed among the honor guards for the fire fighters and the police department here and for the veteran's group. Good causes all.
