Sep. 10th, 2004 10:46 amWe had a nice little dinner for Sarah last night. Auntie Nurse and her husband, Gram, and i. We went to Mainly Lou's. Ellen came over with a couple of little gifties, Mother gave her some green, always the right size, Auntie Nurse et al got her a beautiful laquer music/jewelry box. i made the blind girl go on a treasure hunt for my gift. i didn't have any wrapping paper and wanted to make it fun for her. Nothing too difficult, just a bit of anticipation for her giftie.
Got the doc things done, picked up the powers of attorney, and went swimming. i've convinced the Y to let my membership last until Sunday, it was supposed to expire yesterday. My rationale was that the membership was for one month, but the pool was closed for mid-year repairs last week. i politely explained that i was shorted one week's membership and thought that three extra days would be adequate compensation. The girl at the desk bought it. i hope she's there tomorrow and Sunday.
i'm beginning the packing up process. i really don't want to have to drag a carry-on with me on the trip back. i have a bag for my meds, water, a book, and some knitting (if i can get the needles on the plane). i have a two-hour layover in MLS, and a five or six-hour layover in Chicago. i really don't want to be lugging a wheeled case around the airport with me as well as a bag. i may leave some 'hand-me-downs' here for next summer. i also don't want to pay for an extra bag at each airport. We shall see. Packing to go back takes more planning than packing to come here.
Am patiently waiting for Master to come online. He was having some of 'the boys' over to char some meat today. He thought they would be gone by about 5 or 6. It's almost 7 Q8 time. Maybe they are having more fun than He expected.
Mother is obsessing about what to wear to her class reunion in October. Today we are going out shopping for her. Eileen brought over a silk chinese pajama set that looks nice, but she doesn't want to wear. She has a lovely light (spring) blue dress and jacket that she says she looks best in. i told her to wear what she feels comfortable in. i like a couple other ones, but she has some problem with each of them. So shopping we shall go.
We will also look for something for her hair. It is very thin and fine, worse than mine, even. And STRAIGHT. We will also be looking for a nice head band or other attractive hair accessory. She won't like what i pick, and she won't find anything else she likes, but when she and Eileen go out next week or so, she will see something exactly like i showed her and decide she thinks that's the ideal thing. She processes slowly. i know this. i am her daughter.
This nut didn't fall far from that tree.
i love my family with all my heart. i just wish they would realize that doesn't mean i don't need some privacy once and awhile. Closing the bedroom door doesn't work, locking it only makes them want to know why, even going into the bathroom is not a signal for them. Right now Sarah is just standing here by the computer desk. Not talking, not doing anything, just standing. Waiting! Waiting for me to say something to her. ARGH!
