Dec. 6th, 2003 09:21 pmi feel so left out. Everyone i know has snow, 'cept me. Oh boo, Oh hoo. Oh woe is me.
We on the other hand have had sun for the first time in nearly 100 years. Of course it wasn't sunny all day, but the 27 minutes of sunshine before the sun went down was enough to recharge my batteries for at least two days.
First day on the 'new' old job today. Much of the morning spent moving office, getting computer refiddled so i can connect to the internet and the printer. Only problem is the printer for teachers is not working. There are some sucky things about being 'only a teacher' again.
Had a short class. They are almost done with their research papers. And i have to say it's about time. That's not true. i am amazed at how they are turning out. Today for my research project i had them write in their journals about the paper. When i first assigned the topic, i got a room full of groans, but then i explained what i wanted them to think about. i wanted them to look back to September and remember how nervous they were. How difficult that first task was. How each step got easier and easier for them. i wanted them to think about what they learned about themselves during this semester. And what they learned besides their topic. Did they see themselves changed in anyway because of this course? Do they feel they have a better handle on how to deal with the huge reading assignments in other courses? One girl told me she actually prepared for an exam by using the reading method i had explained in class. She got a B+ on her exam. She is a C student. Nix that. She has been a C student. Now that she knows my stuff really works, i think she may become a B or above student. Now if i can just get her testamonial on tape for next semester's kids.
i got my weekend dose of New Jersey. (southern version) i have promised her a soup recipe so i'd best go hunt it up and get it posted to the list. Soup is comfort food for me. i love salads of all kinds, but when i am in need of solace, i want soup.
