The semester is winding down. i had one girl come in today and no matter how good a pep talk i gave her, she was still disappointed that she only got a B for the course. All they can think of is grades. Here is a young woman, studying in a health care profession, in English. At home and with her friends she speaks Arabic. She reads Arabic newspapers and magazines. She watches Arabic television, and listens to Arabic songs, and goes to see Arabic movies. In fact the only time she speaks English or listens to English or reads English is the time she is in school or doing homework. And she's upset because she got a B in my English course. Heck, i've studied languages for longer than she's been alive, and i know i couldn't do what she is doing and get a D let alone a B. Why can't she see that what she is able to do is pretty darned amazing? Some people wouldn't be happy if they were hung with a new rope.

It was dinar chicken for dinner tonight. with fresh vegetables and nan. Masteris going to make a sausage, egg and cheese burrito tomorrow with some of the leftover nan. i like it with a bit of cinnamon and sugar warmed in the microwave. i feel the need for some spaghetti maybe some pesto, good italian bread, with some cheese and garlic. A good chianti would be nice.

i have to go to bed early tonight. i have to wash my hair and curl it tomorrow before i go to work, and Master is driving so it will be early.
