Dec. 13th, 2003 09:42 pmSarah is still having seizures. Not so many but any is too many in my mind. She wasn't sure when she went to the doc again, but it seems to me that he is taking his own sweet time about getting her regulated. She shouldn't be having them. She and Auntie Nurse went gymming again yesterday. This is such a good deal for her. i don't know what i will ever be able to do to repay my sister for all that she has done for me.
Had to take doggieo on the city run today. i was leaving work and emerson stalled. Before i even got off campus luckily. i had to call Master to come and get me. While i was waiting i got to hear the sound flamingos (flamingoes?) make. Very interesting, i had never thought about that before. When He got there, He futzed around and figured out what is wrong with it, and will repair it tonight, i hope.
Anyway i went on home and He went out shopping, and didn't get home till late, so we had to do the city thing instead of risking loosing him in the dark again on the desert.
i seem to have misplaced my diamond and emerald ring. i know it is in the apartment. i know it is. The thought of misplacing it has made me sick to my stomach. i love that ring.

Dear Julia and James,
It was wonderful getting your invitation to Christmas dinner at your home. Our National Guard unit from Iowa is a Transportation Company and we are located west of Baghdad. we are a tactical truck company and our mission is hauling supplies to Forward Operating Bases. We have only been back to Kuwait once since moving to Iraq, which was to recover some equpiment that we couldn't move on the initial move north.
As I am sure you are aware that the roads here are very dangerous. We have had many close calls, but so far the Lord has been watching over us. We are fortunate that we have not lost any soldiers as a result of IED's or ambushes.
I thank you for your generous invitation. I am afraid that I must regretfully decline due to the geogrphic location and mission load. Our sister company the 1168th Transportation Company is in Kuwait somewhere. The last information I received was that they were stationed at Camp Arifjan. The 1168 is also from Iowa. Their First Sergeant is 1SG Carstiens. I am sure they would be grateful for your hospitality and open arms for the Holidays. We would all like to wish you a Merry Christmas and may God bless you.
Respectfully,
1SG Ronald M. Burger
i am saddened by this letter. i know i was foolish for getting my hopes up. Even from this one brief exchange there is a strong feeling of protectiveness for him and his soldiers. i have already called the embassy to let them know these men will not be able to make it. And i have told the woman i spoke with about the other Iowa guard unit. Arifjan is close to us. We run the dog near there. The amazing thing about this change of plans would be that there is a possibility that a neighbor boy, well he would be a grown man now, is in this other group. i know he is in Kuwait, but so far, my son hasn't been able to find out where he is stationed. It would be such an amazing thing if Jamie, i wonder if he goes by James now, would be with us for Christmas. i'm sure his mother would be pleased to know he is some place safe and loved at Christmas.
When i talk to the embassy woman tomorrow i will request this person. i wonder if she will think i am too demanding.
The tree is complete now. Master has hung the Christmas peppers on the patio. We have a huge empty wall on the patio. i have suggested to Master that we buy some of those tube lights, in green, and put an outline of a Christmas tree there. We could even get some red lights and string them back and forth across the outline to make it look like a decorated tree. Then when the guests go out side to smoke, they will have something interesting to talk about. Master is wearing down on this i think.
i am going to suggest that we set up the tripod for the camera tomorrow night right after work. i would like a picture of us by the tree. i have even found Max a pretty to put on his collar so he can be dressed for the season. The camera has a timer on it. i wonder if it is long enough to get Max in the right position for a photo?
This is long, and it is getting near bedtime.
