There was an extraordinary meeting today to discuss being involved in a research project and talk about the last of course to be revised.

Before the meeting got underway i was given a card of thanks, filled with very nice notes of appreciation. i also received 50 dinars worth of gift certificates to Debinham's one of the more upscale stores in Kuwait. i can honestly say i was stunned. i never thought for a minute something like that would happen. i have managed to maintain quite well throughout all of this. i am happy about it, but still shocked at the rude way in which it was handled. When i was given the card and gift, i almost lost it. Stoopid people. How can i dislike them when they do little unexpected niceties like this? i would say i am speechless but that would be a lie for all to read.

My mentee and i are going to create a website for our research class and publish the student papers on it. He is so good for this unit. He is so gung-ho and excited about everything. Sometimes i want to pinch the others for being such slug-a-beds. They don't put him down or anything like that, but they show absolutely no enthusiasm for his ideas. They are not able to garner any excitement for anything beyond their normal work load. It is sad. Just because the university doesn't recognize our contributions doesn't mean we have to stagnate. He is a godsend for me. Things are falling into place. One door closes and another door opens. How trite, but in this case true. i can get back to research and not be distracted by administrative duties. How cool.

Son is having eye surgery on Wednesday. Second time in less than a year on the same eye. Apparently this is a different procedure, with a 93% success rate. i hope he isn't on that unsuccessful 7%. Fortunately he has excellent insurance this time.

Master is working on a the first of a series of Christmas albums. Do we use that word anymore? ******** Christmas A-Z. Of course He is starting with Country Christmas A-Z. i am trying to convince Him to burn two or three of each so we can give them to the soldiers for Christmas. It appears we are having 12-15 for dinner that day. Son, Mr. smartypants thuought they might be stringy and a bit chewy, but i assured him that if we smoked them they would be just fine. Looks like 25-30 for dinner that day. GAD! How did i get myself into this?

For a person who no longer has to be in the office before any other teachers, i sure can't seem to arrive later. Next week, i swear. Next week i won't be seen in the office until 10, i is spoke.
