Too easy at first ,i've decided to end the summer term hard on the little dears. i'm sick and tired of deja vu all over again every time i read an essay. So i decided to do something about it. i mark the first unacceptable error and then on their assessment sheet i tell them it is their responsibility to find the rest. They had time in class on Tuesday to do a self edit. i have no clue how they spent that time. i thought they were working, my mistake. i have over half of them finished. Nothing interesting on the tube tonight, Master is totally involved in Sports Center. i may decide to go into the table and do a few more. i intentionally started with what i knew would be the worst so i would be in a calm state of mind as i waded through their gibberish. The ones i have left i expect few problems with. If i get them done tonight, i may have an opportunity for pain tomorrow. Well, one can hope, can't she?

The humidity was gone for about 15 hours. It's back. i had the front drapes open today so the new plants could get some unfiltered sunlight. The view was excellent. The fishing fleet was doing its dance around the ocean in front of me. Some with their booms down, others with their booms up. Some were waltzing around the coast guard boat that has been guarding us since before the war. Others were doing the two-step around the tankers and tugs coming in. The pleasure boats doing the boog-a-loo in and out of the other traffic. i love watching the ocean and the activities on it. Early this morning i saw two swarms (is that the right word?) no, i think it's schools, duh! of fish moving under the glass surface of the water. It was pretty amazing. The whole gulf surface, as far as i can see, was a smooth as a plate of glass, and then out of nowhere appears the two choppy circles of water. Close enough to each other for me to think they were travelling together, but far enough apart for me to know they were roiling near the surface for two separate groups of food. Swarms of bugs, i suppose, ah, yes, that's where that word belongs, moving across the water from one end of Kuwait to the other. An amazing sight.

i think tomorrow morning, early, we are going to take the dog to the beach for the first time since he was a baby, nearly a year ago. He jumps into my tub whenever i forget an leave the bathroom door open when i go into take my bath. And when i clean of the balcony after a sandstorm he is out there chasing the water to drink from the hose. i think he will enjoy the beach and the gulf. We may never get him out and home.

Then out for breakie, and to do some more shooting of Kuwait the home movie. Do some final giftie shopping for home. i have some cleaning to do in my dressing room before i leave in a week. The vanity and the shelves are in a fine state of dishevel. i hate coming home to a messy house. i try to time my return to the day or day after the cleaning woman comes. i'm just about ready to have her come in three times a week. i can manage the dog hair from Sunday to Wednesday, but that four-day stretch from Wednesday to Sunday, by the time Saturday night rolls around i've got enough dog hair for two large puppies. i know i know i could mop the floor myself, and most days i do. When school starts again in the fall, i'm afraid i'm going to be overwhelmed with work and i value the little time i have for doing what i want to do, not what i have to do.

i wonder if the military is getting closer to Saddam. Or perhaps there is a new terror threat that is not enough to warn us about but probable enough for the military to be on a higher level of alert? The past two days we have seen the soldiers all wearing flack jackets and the Kuwait police parked on flyovers that overlook the convoy routes. Or it could be a new commander has come in and decided that the girls and boys are getting lax, so he has told them to get their act together. i haven't seen anything on the news or read anything in the paper. Master has noticed the soldiers on His base are mucy more wary. Nothing He can absolutely put His finger on, but more like something electric in the air. i don't know.
