i have been asked to return to a list i joined briefly a month or so ago. i left because it was turning into an irc chat room type of thing. i rejoined last night, but as yet haven't posted an re-introduction. i'm going to read a bit to see if the tone of the list has changed. From what i have read so far, it might be an interesting place to go.

Mother and daughter are back online. Had a nice long yak with my baby girl last night. Seems they are loving the new home more and more everyday. And they are busily working to get everything unpacked before i get home. My bedroom was designated as the storage area for the upstairs. But Daught says they are clearing it out bit by bit.

This morning i am watching the news about Jessica Lynch's homecoming. i've been getting the British view point as we watched the British Cable News station. i have always had my own opinion about why the press latched on to her. There was another woman captured and wounded, but she is black and does not have as much camera appeal. i am not taking anything away from what Lynch went through, i just wonder why the other woman has not been mentioned once, since she returned home. She served her country to the best of her ability too.

One rationale offered by a Sky News journalist was that the rescue of Lynch came on a day when the U.S. needed a lot of good P.R. It was one of the worst days of the war for the Allied Forces and the opportunity to put on a show of force presented itself. Now i am certain that Pvt. Lynch would have been rescued in any event, when the circumstances were right. There has been speculation that the special forces and members of her unit who completed the rescue knew full well they were in very little danger, because there were no iraqi soldiers in the hospital before they even went in. One Brit even suggested that the weapons carried in were filled with blanks. That the whole thing was a big show for the media.

She was severely injured, the other woman not so badly hurt. The other woman is black, Lynch is white. Lynch is a petite, pretty little girl, the other woman not so pretty, not so petite. Makes me wonder.
