Today is Big John's birthday, a friend from Taiwan. Sunday was Don's, another Tunghai friend. Odd that I would think about them today.

Don't listen to what is heard on the news about the horrid sandstorm in the area. We've had rain all day. Sometimes i'm not sure if i'm hearing thunder, planes flying overhead or the trail of missiles from the ships to Iraq. Or a combination of all three.

My mood is suffering today. i'm not good on cloudy dreary days. i've been feeling down all day long. Haven't wanted to do much of anything. Did manage to get the bed made before Master left for work. Overslept, so, so did He. Then because He slept in, there wasn't time for him to have breakfast, He thought. Said He'd stop and get a doughnut on the way to work, yes, the same doughnut shop. Then He pooched around until it was too late for even that. Don't feel too badly for Him, He has this habit of getting sidetracked on the way to do something. Besides, i realized after He'd left, today is doughnut day at Fighter Burger, the restaurant on base. Today they order in doughnuts from our doughnut shop, so he can have breakfast for coffee break.

i've slept most of the day which probably means i'll sleep poorly tonight. Tomorrow i have to go into the office. i will do my work there for Saturdays' class. It will be a bit odd, no secretary, no cleaners no teachers, just me. What's to getting ready for classes on Saturday, i'd like to know. Either the teachers are there or they are not. Either the students are there or they are not. In either case, there is nothing I will be able to do tomorrow to decide how to proceed. If fewer than 50% of the students show, classes will be cancelled. If fewer than 50% of the teachers show, classes will be cancelled. We are too small a unit, and students' schedules are too tight to try to juggle classes around. And i, for one, don't want to be out late in the afternoon. Perhaps with only three students in my original course i can rework something for them. For the other teacher who has a 2-5 class, we will have to see what we can work out.

The war hasn't changed some people's level of idiocy and rudeness. We stopped at the store on the way back from the dog's run today. The parking lot isn't very wide, one row of parallel along the street and then head-in parking along the front of the store, with just enough room between for one car. Some man, whose nationality begins with a K parked his Land Rover right in the middle. He did leave the signal light on so everyone would know he was parked. When he came out, there were three cars behind us. He looked and saw and thought that was not a long enough line of cars so when he got in, got out his cell phone and began to make a call. The rude arrogant ass.

The dog loves the mud. On a windy day no thing that is movable in the desert is safe from the dog, except birds. He learned he can't out run a bird that can fly. The dog does not mind splinters in his teeth from trying to carry part of a pallet while he runs. The dog thinks camels are neat. Even white baby ones running after their mother. He talked with them today, and they answered back. It is hard work to run every day. The dog spends every night snoozin' on the couch in the computer room. Lately with his most favorite toy in the world, a little red policeman ball. Lucky us, it has a squeaker that won't fall out.
