Daughter is on a very limited income. She does very well but once in awhile she needs help. Today was a time. She has an appointment with a specialist in Ames today. She has the shuttle ordered to take her, but is a bit short of cash to pay for it. She has money in the bank, but that must cover the internet bill and the banks service charge. A very small amount for most people, but a lot of money for her.
i transferred some money into her account but it won't arrive until tuesday or wednesday. Today i suggested she call the bank and explain that she has to withdraw the money for the bus and that the transfer is coming, but may not be there before the automatice payment comes due. i suggested that she ask the bank to hold the payment until the money comes in so she doesn't get an insufficient funds charge or whatever it is that a big bank would do. She said she already did that yesterday. She went up and explained the situation and the bank loaned her the money for the bus. And told her they would hold the automatic payment until the transfer arrives. i am crying now as i write this, i cried as i read it as she types it, i cried as i told Master why i was crying. He thought something bad had happened.
While the rest of this world is going quickly mad, there are small pockets of truly kind people. i have no doubt that the money came out of the teller's own pocket. Small town life has its drawbacks, but there are times like yesterday that make me very happy there are still such institutions.
We have a three day work week coming up, and a four day weekend. Why is it that the work week will seem 15 days long, and the weekend will fly by in an instant?
We saw a huge huge convoy today. There were over 30 trucks on the side road waiting to get onto the expressway, and then at least another 30 or 40 that we passed. Most of them were flying flags from the UAE but there were Abrams' tanks on some of the big trucks. To Master's knowledge the only three countries that have this particular tank are Saudi, Kuwait, and the U.S. Probably the convoy was made up of members of the Gulf Coast Security. i know that isn't the right name but it's a group of military from all the Gulf Coast Countries. They are here to protect Kuwait from an invasion by the Iraqis. Most of the Iraqis will be invading as refugees, not military, and there will need to be help with the settling of them.
