jdmkleinWe had a picnic in the desert tonight. It was beautiful. We got to see the sun go down, the sky was a wonderful pink and lavender and gray. Amazing. Dog had a great time. He's a real mudder, loves running through the wet sand and the puddles.
While we were out there, Master got out the ball bat and had some batting practice, Max shagged them back. A convoy of American soldiers drove by. They saw we were Amurican and honked and waved. cool. Then we decided we were out near the new American military camp, and they are getting ready to occupy it. Master is thinking about seeing about working out there. It would be much closer to home for Him. But i would miss riding to work with Him.
Tomorrow is the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. It's supposed to be a month of fasting and abstenence. Sort of like lent for catholics but the Kuwaitis have turned it into a season of sloth and gluttony. Muslim law says no food or water from sun-up to sunset. All work must be carried on as normal. With certain exceptions. Like being pregnant. BUT what really happens is that they party all night long, and are absolutely worthless during the day because they have had no sleep. The government ministries Kowtow to this by changing working hours. Stores open two hours later than normal, and close during the middle of the day. Then open up again after 7 at night. And stay open until 11 or 12. Restaurants stay open until 4 or 4:30 am, enticing people to stay out late.
BUT, and this is what really sucks, the restaurants can't open before iftar, the meal that breaks the fast, about sundown. So the rest of us, also can't eat out during the day. AND the Kuwaitis are so weak willed and unable to resist temptation, that there is a law that anyone caught eating or drinking or smoking in public during the daylight hours will spend the rest of Ramadan in jail, and have to pay a fine of $300.
AND because Master works for DoD, HE gets to go into work at 9 a.m. and be done at 1:30 for the next month. Now that really sucks.
