The conservative Supreme Court of the United States overturned Toe v.Wade.Thus ending the constitutional right to abortion and thereby removing women's power to control their own bodies and decisions over their reproductive health. Of all the events that have happened since 2017, this may well be the worst because it takes away the right of women to rule over their own bodies. And according to the UN population prospects of 2019 women outnumber men by over 2$. There are 97.948 men for every 100 women. The majority of these women are over 40. This makes doing everything we can to make certain this does not last.
Why is it that 50 years ago an all-male Supreme Court had enough conviction to make this ruling in favor of Roe? Seven of these men believed women had the right to rule over their bodies, only 2 dissented, Justices White and Rehnquist.
I don't care what one's beliefs are about abortion, I don't want to know. But I do want to know why the minority of the population gets to tell the majority of the population what to do. The next thing will be ending same-sex marriage. And I have read headlines to that effect today. If this continues, if we don't do everything in our (majority) power to take back what is rightfully ours, can you imagine what our world will be for the next 20 years?
I say 20 years because that is the time I expect it will take for world climate change to kill us all because these same men and women who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade will be making decisions about other things such as using fossil fuels, fracking to find oil, allowing the search for oil to be carried out on protected lands. If we don't do something to stop them right now, who knows what else might happen.
As the group of women who have the majority over men, those who are 40 and under, must think about how they want their lives to end. Do they want to live free and able to make their own decisions or do they want to continue to be under men's thumbs?
I have asked a lot of questions today and I have to say that I have no answers, other than making this country a matriarchy for a while so they can use their common sense to bring us out of this mess.
