A bit over a week ago it rained hard in some areas of Kuwait. Hard enough, in fact that many businesses were closed for flooding. i didn't take these pictures.

The first is the underpass i have to travel through in order to get to work in the morning. There is less than one meter of space between the flood water and the bottom supports of the overpass bridge.

The next is a view of the Iranian souks. It is located about 500 meters from the underpass and is on flat ground. There is a street in front of it, and on the side. Across the street in front about 100 meters are the pet souks. i imagine they got some water too.

The third is a picture of the flower souks. They are also across the street from the Iranina souks and in front of the pet market. Guess they didn't have to worry about watering the plants that day.

There was a lot of rain that day, but the cause of the flooding was the poor drainage system. The storm sewers in Kuwait are not big enough to handle a once in every five years type of rain. i hadn't heard if any lives were lost.

These pictures were taken later in the day after the rains had subsided, but the water had not.
