1. Watching the fishing dhow parade at sunrise.
2. Seeing a man bend down to hold a child's hand as they walk and matching his
footsteps to hers.
3. Watching kittens or puppies play.
4. Hearing the genuine laughter of joy from an adult.
5. The heat of a classroom when all the students' brains are cooking.
6. The first cup of MY coffee in the morning. (Sounds arrogant, i know, but only Starbuck's comes close to my coffee.)
7. The star-filled night sky way out in the desert away from any city lights.
8. The memory of my father doing the polka around the diningroom with my sibs and i.
9. Iowa
10. Making it to work without having to stop for any traffic lights.
Post in your journal ten small things that make life better, funnier, or just generally bring a smile to your face. Anything goes, from a TV show you enjoy to a happy bit of serendipity to a favorite food, except that your pleasures cannot be cynical (eg. "A whole day with no complaints from the crabby guy in the next cubicle") or spiteful (eg. "Hearing that my ex got cruelly dumped like she dumped me"). Try not to pack the list with items specific to one person (eg. "the way Sally's dimples look when she smiles"); the goal here is to list pleasures that at least some portion of your readership can share (bearing in mind the demographics of your Friends list, these might be obscure to others), and thereby remind everyone of the tiny joys that make life worthwhile.
