cars!!!

At the garage before 6:30 this morning to pick up the emerson. It was sitting outside, key locked inside as we had requested. Master had to shoot some starter fluid into the carburator to get it started. Everytime i put it into gear it stalled. Master opened the hood and changed some vacuum hoses around. i got it home ok. The rumble is still there, it still starts hard, there are two noises that the mechanics didn't even look for, and there is the new problem of the transmission mount, we think, that wasn't a problem when i took it in the first time. i shall not take my car back to that shop ever again.

Master believes all of the problems are small and fixable, with the exception of the carb. He now regrets not changing it over 3 years ago when the volvo man had one and was willing to do it. His bad.

Tonight i rented a car for a month. Master won't have time to even think to work on emerson before He leaves for Texas. i can't be without dependable transport. i now have a 2004 Toyota Corolla in the car park. It's a nice car, drives well, but honestly, my first inclination would be not to buy one. Granted it was only a 30 minute test drive, and maybe by the end of the month i will be so in love with it that i wouldn't have my mind changed, but tonight, all that machine is to me is transport. Emerson is my car.

At the very least now i have something i am not afraid to drive farther than i can walk comfortably back home.
