i forgot to make an entry last night. This seems to happen every summer. i am away from easy access to a computer, therefore i don't post as often or as much as i do when i'm home. Then i get out of the habit of posting and when i get home, i forget, or don't feel like it, and have to rebuild the habit. i have to get my routine back. i guess that always takes some time.

i have decided who i would like to meet next. It probably won't be happening anytime soon, i don't have any reason to go to his state anymore. i expect an uninvited guest may not be the way to get a new friendship off to a good start. i am, however keeping this in the back of my mind, just in case the opportunity ever arises.

Master might take me to the border today. i can't get into Iraq, but He says we can get close enough to UmQasr that i will be able to see the crane next to His warehouse there. That will be cool. As [livejournal.com profile] veilofire often says, "Film at 11:00."

The A/c is off again this morning. The weather is really changing. It seemed to have gotten a bit humid last night, but there is no sign of it this morning.

i got to speak with a friend of mine in FL last night. She and her Master are in Fort Lauderdale. They survived the storms intact. They lost electricity for three days with the first one. And because of the power outage, she lost the top of her wedding cake. They were just ready to celebrate their first wedding annniversary, too. i suppose a cake top is not great loss, nevertheless it is a bit sad.

i realize there are many things i wanted to do while i was in the states that didn't get done. Making some phone calls to friends was one. i feel badly about that. There just wasn't time. At the beginning of vacation i always think there is so much time to do so many things, but there never is. i don't know the solution, take longer vacations or plan fewer things. i vote for longer vacation time.

Now i am rambling.

we did it

This morning we went to the border. Well not all the way, but close enough that i could see the check point. Then we went down another road, and i got to see the shipping lane. That sounds silly, but it is certainly enough to weird one out to see a huge container ship or oil tanker coming up in what apppears to be the middle of the desert.

Then we went down another road and had to turn around when we got to the third warning sign. Oh well, will probably never know what was there.

Then we went down yet another road and found a beach in the shipping lane. So we got out and let Max play. He loves the water. He liked this water even more than the beach because he didn't have to worry about the monster waves attacking him. Max chased after the stones Master skipped across the water. Then he tried to go after some plastic bags that were floating in the current. Max would be a good canal builder. He found something, didn't see what, and dropped it in some water. Then he tried to dig it out. He is a good mud slinger too. Maybe i should call up the candidates to see who needs help. We spent about an hour on the beach there.

On the way home we had to go into the city for business. i truly hate the cell phone. He got four phone calls while we were out. And He took them. i can remember a time when a person's day off meant there was no work to be done. Now it means, you just don't go into the office, but since you carry the darned phone with you everywhere you go, you always answer the phone.

Tomorrow it's back to the salt mine.
