The business cards are ordered, the visa is being worked out. i told Him i can understand His excitement about the new job, even though He would rather be in Kuwait. i also asked Him not to expect me to share in His excitement.

i have finally nearly recouped my losses in the stock market. i met with my advisor today. That makes me feel some better. At one point i was down nearly 50%, but the war helped with that. Now if i could just get rid of that japanese yen thing. i doubt if i will ever recoup that loss. Where was my head that day?

Tomorrow is an all morning meeting. One i am not excited about attending. Simply because the group of people i work with can not stay on task. The adage, work expands to fill the time alloted, is this groups mantra. The new director did not set a time line for the meeting, nor did he set an end time. i have visions of ordering chinese for dinner at 9:00 pm. i think i will tell him i have an appointment at 12:30. i have to leave at noon.

We walked in the desert in the late afternoon today. We did 2 km. Max did 50. i was having a knee problem, so poor Max was really busy going from Master to me and back again making sure we were ok. He has some shepherd in him, i swear, cuz he sure was shepherding us. Good thing the camel changed his mind about coming our direction or Max would have had a real problem trying to take care of the three of us.

We are having plumbing problems. The water heater in kitchen isn't. We have been trying for 2 days now to get the plumber to come up and look at it. This complex is supposed to have 24 hr maintenance. HA! They just didn't tell us which 24 hrs this year the maintenance people would be here. So far it hasn't been any of the 5 we have called. GARRRRR! Labor is cheap in this country, it would be nothing to have someone come and look at it. Two of the problems with doing this are, there is no real plumber in this country. i believe the prevailing thought is that anyone who knows which end of the screw driver screws is qualified to do plumbing. So trying to get quality work done is iffy at best. The second problem is, it's the principle of the thing. We were told maintenance is always available, and it is like pullinlg teeth out of a hen getting even the guy who thinks he knows which end of the screw driver screws up here. And the maintenance people live here for jeeeze sake.

Tell me again why i live in this country?

At least it happened while Master is still here.

i'm thinking abou renting a car next September. My volvo is old and it is only economic for me because Master is a mechanic at heart and likes to tinker. When He is in Iraq i might be money ahead renting. Rental agreements here cover everything, including oil changes. i'm thinking.
