We got much more accomplished today than either of us expected. Master cleaned out the storage shed in the car park. The plan was for me to go down with Him to help, but the stupid hamstring pull prevented that. He braced both knees and went down to work for about 2 hours. He said He filled two big trash cans that the complex uses for resident's trash. He also brought up the Christmas tree. It seems only right that we put the full tree up this year since we will be having special guests, i hope.
While He was downstairs working, i was making hoppin' john. One of His co-workers will be coming over tomorrow to show Master how to set up the LAN for our computers. i think that's what it is called. So my computer doesn't have to be on in order for His to be online. And i can set up the laptop without disconnecting either of the other two. The payment for this help is hoppin' john and a rootbeer. Honest to goodness American rootbeer.
After Master took His bath, we went out to run some errands. We needed a new Christmas tree stand. It seems the Islamic fundamentalists have taken over the country. Every store that we stopped at had an abysmal collection of Christmas things. In just the short time i've been in this country the sale of Christmas wares has gone from quite good to well below what one would expect. We ended up getting a patio umbrella stand to use because the only tree stands to be found came with a tree.
i got the prezzies for the teachers. i know, i know, i kvetch and complain all year long about what toadies they all are, and then break down and celebrate this holiday with them. i am a contradiction of terms, what can i say. i didn't go all out, trust me. i barely even went half out. i got them all a pair of scissors for their office. The university in it's great wisdom seems to think that one pair of scissors, child-type with rounded ends is adequate for a unit that is expected to create all its own material. This with less than half the offices being supplied with working computers. i mananged to convince the Assistant Admin. Director that calculators were not a luxury, but rather a necessity when calculating student grades. He wanted to know why we just didn't use the calculator on the computer. Well, DUH! Couldn't convince the head of services and follow-up to do the needful and purchase scissors, so i did. At the amazing price of 450 fils, the equivalent of $1.25. In a country as wealthy as this, why is the uni so tight with it's money?
i also snagged some prezzies for the Max dog, and got some little thing for the woman who does my manicures. i plan to give all of the women who work ever so hard to keep me beautiful a pair of slippers made by my daughter. And something else. i'm toying with the idea of giving them each one of the gift certificates i received as a parting gift from the teachers. i have until next week to decide.
Master is in bed. Max is sleeping. Why am i here?
