Jul. 14th, 2003 07:40 pmTonight is Thai food night and i am patiently starving until it is delivered. If it does not come soon i may have to start gnawing on a dog leg or some other piece of meat.
i made a student cry today. i seem to be bringing out the worst in people this summer. This the student who has been driving me nutso for the past 3.5 weeks. Today we started having a nice conversation, i got to talking about Daughter in class in relationship to MRIs. She (student) has a cousin who is blind, so she says. i have now begun to be suspect of everything she says. We got to my office, she knows she can't come in, and finished the conversation about blind relatives and then she said she had something else she wanted to talk to me about. She said she felt i was angry with her.
i told her i wasn't angry, just frustrated, and that if she didn't start paying attention in class, and have some confidence in her abilities as a student things were only going to get worse, and the she started to cry. Usually i'm not a sucker for a crying student, but i know the other students don't much care for her either because of her problem. She is a hard-working person. She is really trying, but gottdamn, i wish she wasn't trying my patience to the very end.
Aha, doorbell, must be Thai food.
