Nov. 2nd, 2002 08:30 pmWell i guess once it has learned how, the sky over Kuwait can't stop. It rained again today. i mean really really rained. Kuwait probably got 50% of its annual rainfall this afternoon. About 1:30 the sky got dark and the streetlights came on. Then the wind came up. Big green freeway signs have been blown over. Smaller signs have been blown out of the dirt/sand. Trees are broken or have fallen over. Who says there aren't any rivers or lakes in Kuwait? They haven't travelled down 'The Keeper of the Five Holy Mosques, King AbdulAziz Raheem Highway' today. We saw meandering rivers, rapidly flowing rivers, gushing rivers and lakes of all sizes. The sand in Kuwait is so fine the water can't seem through it.
We learned we have a mudder for a pet. He loves running through the puddles. We took him out to the desert, that's the last time i'll go right after a rain, all i could think of was Master pushing the emerson out of the soft sand, cuz i don't push and He knows it. We tried to stay on the hard pack, but that becomes a whole lot soft after a rain storm. At one point Master stopped the car, i swear i felt it sinking in the sand, and walked ahead about 100 meters to see how the hard pack was. Max jumped and ran and just had a gay old time with Him out there. And Master didn't even mind. We didn't go the whole usual route, maybe 3/4 of it, and Max was loving every minute of it.
It took me 90 minutes to get home from work today. My usual drive time is 30 minutes. It had rained so hard that at least four of the underpasses i normally drive through were flooded. Add to that the craziness of the average Kuwaiti driver. At one point the traffic wasn't stopped completely but it did slow to a crawl. i kept looking for the accident, but i finally realized that the road i was on had flooded for about 5 kilometers. That stretch took about 35 minutes to travel. i can just imagine the fun it must have been at rush hour. In one respect i hope it rains tomorrow morning about our ride time. Then i won't have to get up and take yahoodie dog out for his morning run. But if i don't take him out he'll be full of it when we get home tomorrow evening. The little twit doesn't like to get off the elevator in the morning. And i have no good idea why. Master says it's just to irritate me, and i think He's right.
i feel a little bad today. i finished grading the mid semester exams. Over half my students failed. Some failed because they weren't sure of what to do. For them i'll feel sorry and be a little bit nice to. The others failed because they didn't follow directions. For them, i won't cut any slack. Dumb little twits. Think they know it all. Well they learned. And they have no one they can complain to about it. Ha! i'm the queen of my world, and i'm their teacher. Who they gonna go to to complain???? HA! i say HA! Don't tell them this, but not a one of them will fail the course because of this exam. i did the math on it already. i can act mean and make them work harder in the second half. i'm willing to bet all the fils in my pocket that they read the instructions on every single thing i give them for the rest of the semester. It is a good thing for them. A wake up call. PAY ATTENTION! i'm not standing up in front of the room for my health, ya know.
My neck hurts. i'm going to take a bath.
