A very good day, indeed. Anyday that starts with sex is good. Any day that starts with sex and includes a little pain is very good, very good, indeed. And it only got better.

We had breakie on the patio. A bit brisk, but with the new privacy/wind screen, very doable. Then to the Al Mirah souk. i believe we were the only white folk in the joint. It is a bedouin market. Master got a 'great deal' on a fauxlex, only 12$, oh, i forgot to tell LMSG that tonight. We found some dishes we both like. Plain white, what can i say? And glasses, too. 1kd/15 of them. They are pretty, and hefty, and will probably break the first time i try to stick a sponge in one to clean it, but at that price, i can afford to go back out and buy more. Master said the glasses and many of the plates are so cheap because people use them in the desert in the camps. Apparently they don't like paper, and don't like washing dishes, they buy things like corel, or luminarc, use them and leave them for the camels and sheep to graze off of. Is this conspicuous consumption?

When we got home we sat on the kitchen floor and peeled labels off the new dinnerware before washing it. Max was a great help. He just knew if it was a sack and on the floor, there must be something in there to eat. Fooled him! But i must admit he looks quite fetching with price stickers and manufacturer labels hanging from his ears. i hung linen out to dry and Master laid on the swing and oversaw my task. We played catch with the dog, Master's pillowcase will be the one He kept hitting with the dog's ball, the ball that got all slobbery while playing catch.

All the ball chasing didn't tire him out for his run. But it didn't. He only chased on camel, three ATVs, and a goat, and carried lumber for the bonfire. We stopped at McDonald's for an ice cream cone. The people working know him so well, the guy at the window yelled out 'three cones?' as we drove onto the lot. By the time we got to the pick up window, Max's cone was there already, Master and i had to wait for ours. We know who rates.

On the list there is a question about spirituality. i have never been able to wrap my head around that word. Nor mystic.
i don't know what my problem is with those words. i just don't understand how they work. At any rate, what this all amounts to, is there is yet another question that i won't be answering. i guess i must not be very spiritual.

i have my ticket and room reserved for TESOL Arabia. i don't want to go. i like the idea of research, but i hate the idea of having to be in front of a group of strangers and presenting what i have found. It is going to cost me about $1000 dollars for one full day, and two half days and two nights in Dubai. About the only good that can come of it is that a former colleague will be there, and i hope we can meet up and catch up. All of this and no recognition from the university. It's a good thing i like what i do.

i am expecting a check in the mail. A thought. Maybe it will arrive before i have to pay for my ticket. It's my royalty check. i like the sound of that statement. i really have to get writing again. It's the beginning of the semester, i have the time, i just need to find my inspiration.

Inspiration, spirituality. They are related. Maybe i am getting the hang of it.
