Today was a good day if you don't take into consideration the fact that the temp was over 100 degrees before 8:00 a.m. The class went really well. The bad part about that is when you get 21 young people's brains working on over time, those brains generate heat. Our classroom is one of the hottest rooms we have, but we need to be there because the other rooms are too small. i felt so sorry for those girls who cover and wear their abiyas, and the poor girl who covers her face must be zit city in the summer time. Or maybe the Arab skin has adapted to being so completely covered and does not produce so much body oil. i was uncomfortably damp when i walked out of class. Crossed the foyer and went into the hallway of our building and became more and more uncomfortably warm as i got near the office hall. The A/C for the offices decided today was a good day to not work. It's not 12:30 and the temp is a nice 115. Our chabra is the equivalent of the portable school rooms seen all over the U.S. Metal and not well insulated.

Then i had to talk with the VDSA. i honestly hope he doesn't think i am being stubborn on purpose. He wants us to give up 45 minutes of one class so someone from another campus can complete a research project on student learning in summer school. Summer school is already one week shorter than normal. We are trying to cram 140 hours of contact teaching time into 70 and he wants me to give up 45 minutes for a questionaire. Give me a bloody break puh-leeze.

i left early. i need a long soak in a bubble bath, candles lit for atmosphere, a few gardenia petals floating in the water, a cold glass, glass hell, bottle of a zinfendel or chardonay. Unfortunately by the time i got the water cool enough so that i wasn't par boiled the instant i stepped into the tub, the bubbles would be gone, the candles burned out, and the wine gone to vinegar. And i'd probably have to fight off the dog. Ok, ok, so it's a pity party. So sue me.
