Did the dog thing both ends of the day. Rode with him on the bike in the dark of the morning. Laughed with him in the end of the day. He loves the desert.
Got called by the VDAA today to be told that 'he' agrees with whatever Faculty Secretary says about the course proposal. Apparently FS was telling VDAA that i wasn't going to be open to any changes in the proposal. WRONG! There are certain things, ways of saying something, words used in a specific way, that go with ESL. i'm not about to allow someone with a Lit degree to tell me how to word a proposal for an ESL course. i told VDAA i had no problems with redundency and typos and such as that. But i would not change wording just because FS thinks it would be better 'this way'.
Later on in the day FS came down and we had at it. Now i ask you, what is the difference between saying something must be appropriate to the assignment and saying something must be according to what is required for the assignment. In my mind, NADA! In his mind beaucoup beaucoup Dolores! i won't make stylistic changes 'just because'.
We got about half done. Tomorrow we finish. When we left today i told him just how much i hated spending the afternoon doing this. He said he knew and laughed. When i got home today, in 40 minutes because i left at 1:30 instead of 2:30, i called him at the office and thanked him for the time he spent editing my work. And i told him i wouldn't send it up for him to look at and give his professional opinion about if i didn't appreciate it and recognize that his help makes my work look better. And i loved the fact that he no longer blue pencils my stuff. He uses green.
When i spoke with the VDAA i told him i was taking personal time on the next two Wednesdays. i told him i was moving and needed that time to get stuff ready and moved. i also asked Jamal for information about renting an appliance cart for the move. He says there are all kinds of places in the paper, i asked where, he said that kuwaiti papers, not the English language ones. DUH!. so anyway he is going to bring the paper one day this week and help me find one.
Doofy dog is sleeping on the couch. He looks so sweet and innocent. yea right
Tomorrow is virtual Wednesday already. i have another killer lesson planned and ready to go. The kids have, for the most part, good topics for their research papers. Some had a bit of trouble narrowing it down, and a couple balked when i tried to explain the problem with a too broad topic. i should just let them go and laugh in their faces when they come crying to me about not being able to find the right information. But i won't. i wouldn't. i can't. It's not my job to fail them. They have to fail this course themselves. If they do what i say, when i say, how i say, they will do fine. Most know this. Some are hard learners.
Daughter has plans for Thanksgiving. These may work into something more social for her and M. They have been invited to a church turkey day dinner. A member of M's former church called and invited them. Maybe someone there will make a move and ask them if they would like a ride to church on Sundays. Maybe Daughter will be able to become involved with other women, albeit older women, women who believed Christ died for their sins, but other women nonetheless. She needs to be with other females. One of the prejudices or biases people have of the blind is that they can't see, so they aren't social. Or something like that. Just like, they can't see, so automatically they can't speak either, so don't talk to them, talk to the person they are with, or the guide dog. Or they can't see, so if 'i' talk louder maybe they will be able to. People are so duh!
