of shoes and ships and sealing wax
i have Master home for three nights in a row. He came in last night, and doesn't leave until Saturday morning. i have a feeling none of my work is going to get done.
This morning we were up and out before 9 and didn't get back until nearly 3. The reason He came back Wednesday night is that He had a ton'o'errands to run, and decided He didn't want to spend His one day off doing company business. So i packed up my knitting and went with. Got many things done but they all took longer than expected. During ramadan, that is not a good thing. There is no open food place in the country during the daytime, during ramadan. We sneaked a small pepsi at Ace and when we were getting the truck washed He bought two candy bars. The driver at the car wash was giving us the eagle eye, to make sure we didn't open and eat them in public. Neither the pepsi nor the candy bars are good for the waistline, but desparate times mean desparate measures. The only good thing i can say about ramadan is that it is about half over. And then we will have a three to seven day holiday. That is yet to be determined by the moon sighting committee and the ministry of holidays.
Son is all moved into new house. Ellen, bless her heart, has offered them an antique beaded hanging lamp for their dining room. i don't know if they have taken her up on the offer. And then she sez to me, thank you fo r letting me share your family. She is the only sane one in her family and quite honestly i don't know how she managed it. She has a sister who is an anorexic alcoholic and a brother who is a drughead. And these aren't kids, folks. Sister is 62 and brother is 50. What is the world coming too?
Daughter is finally meeting people at the dances. Monday night after the dance she was invited to someone's home to continue the conversation. And next week is the Halloween dance. She already has her costume picked out. Gad, i hope she has fun. She truly deserves all the good times in life she can get.
Max spent time today trying to be a lap dog. That would be fine, but neither Master nor i have a lap big enough for him. He ends up being a front legs and chest on the lap dog.
i have quizzes to correct from all my classes. i see an early early Saturday morning in the very near future.
The cable bill needs paying. It can be paid online, but first one has to sign up for it. That makes sense. but one can't just go to any branch to sign up, one has to go to the main head office which is in the heart of the city, and is only open between 12:00 and 12:15 during the holy month of ramadan. And it's on the 25th floor and the elevators don't work. How's that for convenient?
i can joke about the inconveniences and inconsistencies of the life of an ex-pat, but sometimes those things get so far up Master's nose, i do believe He could go postal. And He knows about this stuff. He's lived here way longer than i have. He just isn't ready to concede that in this country they don't do things like they do in the good ol' U.S. of A. And He is convinced that they should. i guess it is the perfectionist in Him. Or the control aspect of His personality.
